Volunteer Recruitment (from Morioka to Rikuzen Takata)

Organizer: Iwate Prefecture Disaster Volunteer Center

The Social Welfare Association (Shakai Fukushi Kyogikai) is looking for volunteers to help with disaster cleanup for the area.
There will be a volunteer bus (VoluBus) that transports volunteers to Rikuzen Takata on the following days.

  2. Meeting Place
    (1) Morioka Station Malios outside the 1F doors
    Bus departure: 6:30am
    (2) Fureai Land Iwate (Address: Morioka-shi, Sanbon Yanagi 8-1-3)
    Bus departure: 6:50am
    (3) Points to remember and Bus Schedule
     ・ When applying, please let us know from which of the two departing points written above where you will take the bus.
     ・ Please arrive 10 minutes before bus departure.
     ・ Parking is available at Fureai Land for your personal car.
     ・ Arrival time at Rikuzen Takata is around 10:00am. Departing time from Rikuzen Takata at 16:00pm with arrival at Morioka Station around 19:00pm.

  3. Place and Description of Volunteer Work
    Activity Area: Within Rikuzen Takata City
    ※We will inform you where activities will take place once reaching the Disaster Volunteer Center.
    Majority of Volunteer work: Clearing mud away etc.
    We assume that the area will be very muddy. Please prepare raingear and work clothes to wear for the activities.

  4. What to Bring/Prepare
    Lunch (drinking water), work clothes, raingear, long rubber boots (protective footwear),rubber gloves/cotton work gloves, shovel, face mask, cap, personal identification(such as driver’s license etc.) and clothes to change into when finished.
    ※ There is a risk of stepping on rusty nails so we strongly advice bringing protective foot wear or long boots with an iron protective layer.
    ※ We will also have lunch sets for 500yen. (Onigiri rice ball set and a drink) We will collect money on the day of volunteering.

  5. Insurance Fee You must enroll in the Natural Accident A Plan (Tensai A Plan) provided by the Social Welfare Association (Shakai Fukushi Kyogikai) in the municipality where you currently reside.
    ※This is a compensation insurance fee in case of the remote possibility of an accident while volunteering.

  6. Participation Limit
    May 26 and 27 : 40 volunteers
    May 28 - June 5 : 80 volunteers
    (apply on first come first served basis)
    The deadline is immediately when all the places have been filled.
  7. Volunteer Applications
    If you want to participate, you must contact Meitetsu World Travel in advance and apply.
    We ask you to understand that without prior application, you cannot take part in volunteering.
